The disability community reacted with anger when Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) sent letters to 100,000 people in October 2001 telling them that their Disability Tax Credit was under review.

Now a report entitled Getting it Right for Canadians: The Disability Tax Credit, by the Parliamentary Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities chaired by Dr. Carolyn Bennett, MP, St. Paul’s, Toronto, has denounced the letter and told the Agency it should apologize for the tone and content of the letter. The federal government has yet to respond.
