The BC Public Interest Advocacy Centre (BCPIAC) is generously funded by the Law Foundation of British Columbia and has been since its inception. The Law Foundation is a non-profit foundation created by legislation to receive and distribute the interest on clients’ funds held in lawyers’ pooled trust accounts. These pooled trust accounts are maintained in financial institutions. Without the funding of the Law Foundation, BCPIAC would not exist and the many successes that we have achieved on behalf of the people of British Columbia would have been impossible.

We also receive a significant portion of our revenue from cost awards ordered by regulatory bodies. These cost awards are paid by utilities and reflect the regulators’ recognition of the public benefits that accrue from BCPIAC’s participation.
