BCPIAC Mission Statement

The British Columbia Public Interest Advocacy Centre is a non-profit society that advances the interests of groups that are generally unrepresented or underrepresented in issues of major public concern.

BCPIAC Statement of Goals

  1. To Advocate
    1. the interests of residential consumers, and in particular low-income groups, in the regulation and deregulation of services,
    2. the interests of disadvantaged groups in obtaining access to justice and equality before the law, and
    3. unmet advocacy needs in both established and emerging areas,
  2. By
    1. advancing these interests before courts and administrative tribunals, and using other strategies where these are more likely to be effective,
    2. coordinating with other service providers to ensure the most effective allocation of resources, and
    3. continuing to develop as a community resource providing legal services including advocacy, analysis, public education and information.
