Stephen Portman | Director
Legal Advocate, Vancouver, BC
Stephen has spent the past decade as a legal advocate, working on the frontlines of law based anti-poverty reform in British Columbia. As Advocacy Lead of Together Against Poverty Society (TAPS), this work has highlighted legislative inequality with a focus on creating systems change though community building, the courts and in the political realm.
Stephen’s focus has been directed toward advancing a rights-based analysis to the challenges posed by needless poverty. Stephen is a Journalism Fellow with the Munk School of Global Affairs and a recipient of the Maytree Scholarship in Human Rights and Poverty. When not at work you can find Stephen at a rally, in the forest, on the sea or in the kitchen.
